Pure US Power Metal in perfection! Riffs that force you to bang your head until it nearly falls off. A voice with more shades than the brightes rainbow. And, most important, some of the best songs that the US Power Metal scene ever brought forth! The only thing I do not like about this record is the cover and many others thought the same I think. That would be the only reason to explain why POWERMAD never was a megaseller. Cause they had the best assumption: The launching riff of the killer opener >Slaughterhouse< has been the title-melody of MTV's "At the movies" for quite a while. The same song can be found in the film "Wild at heart" several times [in one legendary scene Nicolas Cage and some chicken stop their car somewhere in nowhere on some highway and totally freak out because >Slaughterhouse< comes on the radio!!! Congratulations, Nicolas, great taste!]. But nevertheless they are still an insider tip but who gives a fuck?! If you really should not know POWERMAD until now, change this! It's simply a must to have and one of the crownjewels in any metal collection on this earth! There are majestic melodic tracks like >Nice dreams< or >Plastic town< as well as pure Power kuts ala >B.N.R.<, the psychotic >Brainstorms< that will make you nearly loose your mind or the fantastic Power hymn >Final Frontier< that will take you straight away thru the universe on wings of vengeance and might!!! "Absolute Power" is nothing less than the stuff of which (nice) dreams are made of!!
The first record of POWERMAD was the today very rare and much sought after "Chasing the Dragon" EP on Combat records with some unreleased stuff as well as different versions of for example >Nice dreams<. It was a bit more melodic but of course also great. Following to this release was the "Let the Madness begin..." MLP. Amazing stuff again, hard to find on vinyl and on CD nearly impossible to get because it only has been released as a promo without cover. ETERNAL HAIL, POWERMAD, YOU RULE FOREVER!!!
