DEFCON: "Suicide" LP Rarity: |

Look at the line-up. And before hearing
a note from DEFCONs one and only vinyl you may realise the problem: What
about a drummer?? There is none! And that is the weak point on "Suicide":
A drumcomputer was programmed and it sounds HORRIBLE! Brrrrr - I don't like
computers in gerneral (only expection is Marvin from the "Hitchhikers
guide to the galaxy" and Bender from "Futurama"- uhh, they
are robots, to be exact...) but the drumsound on this record is just cruel!
It sounds not better than a boy with a tin-can and a wooden spoon would!
How can a metal-band do such a sacrilege?? I really don't know... But okay, let's look closer the the songs itself now: The first and last ones are instrumentals, so we only have 4 "real" songs on the debut of this german band from Falkensee (former DDR). The title-track lasts nearly 17 minutes and is the heart of "Suicide". Many breaks, accoustic-guitars, spoken vocals, long instrumental-parts, speed-eruptions and even some singing. Hmmm, a little hard to follow. But very unique in every way! I can say all tracks have a style that is hard to describe. From Power to Thrash all is included, some breaks are very confusing. Not a record I would put onto the player to relax. But somehow interesting. The black/white cover is simple, lyrics are not included. The LP was limited to 1.000 pieces, a bunch of copies came up now in 2001 so if you are interested better hurry before the last copies are sold out. But to be honest: You don't miss too much if you save your money or better try to get any of the other records above. Not essential. |
