Slauter Xstroyes- "WinterKill" After spending an hour trying to find the words to review this album, the only description that fully encompasses this masterpiece seems to be indescribable. "WinterKill" is a heavy-metal fan's dream come true, combining strong vocals and technical guitar mastery into songs that simply cast spells upon the listener. Instead of the usual crunchy sound familiar to the U.S. metal scene, this album has a very European flair, showcasing complex riffs and song structures that are very heavy, yet cleverly melodic. Even the voice of John Stewart falls perfectly into the realm of those which everyone seems to like, whereas so many other vocalists are often too high, too low, too screechy, etc. Not many bands have ever been able to do this with genuine conviction- but Slauter Xstroyes do this to perfection on every song, making it impossible to pick a favorite track! Although the band was short-lived before giving birth to other great acts such as Tyrant's Reign, "WinterKill" serves as a landmark album that will satisfy generations of metallers from start to finish. Common law dictates possession of this album, and thanks to the re-issue on Monster Records, no one should ever be without this highly sought after record!
