Here we have an US-Metal Top-rarity! Released in 1987 on a private label in a relative large edition of 5.000 copies, this MLP of hard yet melodic US Speed Metal is today on everyones want-list. And that for a good reason: "Year of the Tyrants" delivers absolutely fantasitc powerful Speed Metal with great and sometimes very high vocals, pure energy!! A killer record! If you don't like your neighbours just put TYRANT'S REIGN on your player and they will head for the next bunker supposing an earthquake or the metallic attack of world war III! This is an ultimate US Metal classic, enchanting black/white coverart, lyricsheet is included and the music will rip your ears off!
The vinyl record is today mega expensive (have already seen it for more $$$ than mentioned above!) so try to get at least the CD-bootleg version of REBORN CLASSICS label [together with RIOT: "Restless Breed" and 3 bonustracks from '89 demo: 1) Judge & Jury, 2) S.O.S., 3) Passage to eternity] that usually costs about 20,00 €.
TYRANT'S REIGN was founded in 1985 in Illinois and they were the leading and most powerful band there at this time. So it really is not easy to understand why they had to release their MLP on a private label... But who cares? The soundquality is good (not excellent) so it doesn't make any difference (at least for the ones who own this record, hargh).
Randy Barron showed his faith to true heavy metal as he released another record with the band WINTERKILL in 1995. A good US-Power Metal CD, but of course lightyears behind the unique brilliance of TYRANT'S REIGN... Legendary steel that will be remembered!!!
