Words actually can't describe this four-track effort by the Swedish cult-legend METAL MERCY. This record is most of all based on it's feeling. Of course a band with a name like this already has the advantage that it sounds unbelievably cool. But of course there's lots more. Throw in some mega artwork (simplistic but so damn metal!) for instance. It's one of those items in your collection which you don't know to listen to or put it on tape and the vinyl on the wall, haha! On top of that, it's mega-rare and that's reflected in the price. But it's money well spent. The music is rather mid-tempo heavy/power metal with only "Rendez-vous with death" kicking into somewhat higher speed. Mind you, there are more than enough double-bassed drums to satisfy your every need. Actually it's a bit like CANDLEMASS: soooo heavy and superb riffing that it doesn't need to be played fast. The vocals of Igefors are clean, always on the right tone and have that small raw edge that I so dearly love! The songs breathe the metal vibe and the lyrics are exactly what a good '80s record demands. Powerful, dark and most of all: honest & pure. Even some evil laughter that adds to the atmosphere. In that aspect "Who's in the dark" chorus' reminds on good ol' KING DIAMOND. Also listen to the acoustic intro on "In total rage" that bangs into the opening song. You just know you're in for a hell of a ride! "The unborn child" itself is one of the best tunes of the late 80's. Nobody can deny the heaviness of this song; this song alone is worth the purchasing price! Add to all of this a mighty good production (excellent for a private pressing) and you know it's a metal fan's dream come true. Search for this for eternity!!!! 'A thousand years I lived in fear, now it's time to rise from the beyond'!
