This private released record is a legendary classic, simply a must to have for all Power Metal fans! Songs as the melodic speed crusher >Transylvania< or the pure Power Kut >By this Axe I rule< range among the best pure Metal tracks, it is in my opinion one of the best european Power Metal LPs ever! >Enola Gay< has a fantastic chorus, >The Whore of Babylon< is a dark epic metalhymn. >Kill all in Sight< is comparable to MANOWAR maybe, although the vocals of Per are very unique, sometimes real highpitched and a bit "oblique" (not everyone will love 'em). This record is not comparable to this modern "constructed" metal music that sounds "perfect" but without soul and feeling, if ya know what I mean. This is metal from the heart, you can feel the passion whereever you drop the needle on this forgotten jewel.
Sadly I never have heard anything from WITCHHAMMER after this record but I can imagine the split up after this record. It was released in a time when Power Metal was nearly dead. Death Metal was big, nobody cared for true metal like it was offered on "1487". In the last years True/Power Metal came back and thousands of average bands poison the scene with average works. So do not care for all this new stuff too much, try to get the REAL classics in metal, and "1487" is one of them. Metal is timeless music and WITCHHAMMER will never die!
