We all know there's magic in the metal. BREATHLESS is another evidence. The artwork shows two prehistorical beasts battling, while the world dissolves in fire. They can't escape the destructive heat, but the primeval carnivores will fight THEIR armageddon to the end. This scene represents the eternal fight of life, which we'll never give up, no matter what happens. THE FIGHT FOR METAL! So it perfectly matches the spirit of BREATHLESS' music. The first song >Nobody's Perfect< is a great and motivating opener. You will immediately notice the charismatic voice of Pascal 'Geddy' Remans, who masters high hellish screams (yes!!!) and aggressive singing as well. His variable skills you will learn to love during the entire album. Now you know "a little rock can't do any harm to anyone", so get ready for the next tunes played at full volume! And I promise there's no blackout on this record. The first side of the lp ends with the furious and full of hate track >Bring Me Back Home<. A good preparation for the selftitled act of aggression and dominating song on this piece of metal. It's fast, it's fierce, it breaks the bones of the false ones! And I bet you'll be BREATHLESS after listening to this masterpiece. But you don't have any time to rest! A true singalong hymn called >
The Night Crusader< follows right away. The story of the warrior who is "even darker than hell" won't leave your head shortly. What I didn't mention yet are the brilliant solos of the two guitarists Ragos 'Lacky' Apostolos and Speedy, you'll find in all songs. They're always a pleasure and sometimes really surprising. I hail you axemasters! No, I can't finish this review without pointing at the gratifying lyrics of two more songs. >Devil's Seed On Her Body< deals with the stupidity of women we all (should) know of and sometimes suffer from. "How can this whore be so blind", haven't you already had this question in mind?! And the glorious ride >On The Wings Of The Dragon< is one of my favorite antichristian tunes. "My work is for the death - I shall kill christian faith". Amen. So you don't know everything about the BREATHLESS album and there's only one way to change this situation. Get it as long as the blood is flowing in your veins! And the day will come you're sitting in front of your stereo, listening to the sounds of the outro and then you'll know: you've just met one of the sharpest blades of steel ever being forged in the fires of hell.

Alternative review:
Belgium offered the metal community some excellent releases in the mid '80s. ACID, OSTROGOTH, KILLER, CROSSFIRE, BAD LIZARD, SCAVENGER, CYCLONE, WESTFALEN,… are just a few names of a long list of great heavy metal bands. Most of these releases are relatively easy to find (well in Belgium that is, so people that are interested can always contact me) but there are some that rarely see the light of day. The self-titled and private release from RITUAL's self-titled MLP for instance. Or this piece of true metal art: BREATHLESS. This album is probably the most sought-after collector's item from Belgium and you'll pay a lot to get it (released on Gigametal, I guess that label only held this release, maybe a few others), but it's worth it. What we get is heavy metal of the highest standard, and few bands are able to top this. Speed cuts like 'Nobody's Perfect', 'On The Wings Of The Dragon' or the title track offer power and melody at the same time. And the chorus from 'The Night Crusader' is a metal orgasm, nothing more and certainly nothing less. All tracks are classics with very good solo's and also the lyrics are straightforward: 'My work is for the death, I shall kill the christian faith, on the wings of the dragon'. Total metal insanity, so raise your fist and yell!
