DER KAISER? Strange name for a band from France. The cover also looks ... strange. What do they want to tell us with this cover? No idea... A lyricsheet is enclosed. The lyrics are in french. I don't understand a word so I can not tell about what they are singing. Hmmm. Just let's put the record on the player to see what we got: the needle goes down, the comfortable silent rustle of vintage vinyl is heard. And than it begins: Wuuusssshhh!! That is power! That is POWER METAL! Great! HA! Who cares for the strange name? Who cares for the lyrics? DER KAISER lived fantastic Power Metal with even an edge of Speed Metal, but always with loads of melodies! Very good vocals, high and with a slight epic/heroic touch, and more Power than I expected to hear from our french neighbours!! I will not mention any special track, the record is very homogeneou! DER KAISER rulez!! I can't think of any better release from france that I ever had the pleasure to hear! So the only thing I can do is to highly recommend this LP to all 80ies metal maniacs out there! It is one of the rarest Devils Releases, so it will be very hard to find and expensive! But if finally you can call it your own you will love it!
Paris is a nice city. So think about your girlfriend and invite her for a short holidaytrip to France. If you're there and she wants to go sightseeing: tell her that "Eiffel", "Louvre", "Arc de triomphe", "Notre Dame" etc. are totally overfilled with millions of tourists, generally overrated and in truth boring because you've seen it all a hundred times on TV. Tell her that you'll now unveil the REAL secrets that make Paris so interesting and escort her to EVERY second hand shop that is, ha ha. And if you're lucky enough, maybe you will find a copy of "Le Griffe del'Empire". If you put the LP on the player after coming home: you will know it was worth all the strain...
And well, if you're there don't forget to also look for "Vautours", the debut of DER KAISER from 1984. Also a very good album, but as it seems there were much more copies pressed and it is not so hard to find today.
